Often referred to as tight boxers or A-fronts, mens boxer briefs are an underwear classic. Inspired by the shorts boxers wear in the ring, they’re looser than trunks and body skimming meaning your private parts are free to move and air can circulate for breathability. They also sit close to the skin, which offers comfort and support. They’re ideal for larger thighs as they don’t bunch so easily.

They’re usually made from woven or knitted cotton fabric or a softer, natural fibre like modal blended with stretch. They feel silky soft on your skin and wick sweat very well but they can lose this feeling over time if you wear them every day and wash them frequently. They may also start to feel constricting over time, especially if you have bigger thighs, or they can ride up and show your crack which isn’t particularly appealing.

Trunks on the other hand are compact and understated. Made from the same fabric - cotton or modal with a bit of stretch - they are very similar to boxers in terms of fit. They’re compact and sit closer to the skin than boxers and offer a good amount of support and definition. They are also great for big thighs as they’re less likely to bunch so can avoid the issue that can come with wearing boxer briefs if you have large thighs.
